• Hell yes, what a way to end 2021.

  • I have a stack of novels that has grown unread for years and it just occurred to me I should just plain cull any with tiny type because I’m not going to be able to read them unless I (manage to) rebuy digitally. 🥲

  • Finding independent artists you love to support is such a joy, sometimes with bonus notes and adorable biz cards! (Not normally a pin collector but I couldn’t resist these wooden Haru and Todd pins.) joelathamillustration.co.uk

  • Starting to suspect I’ve taken enough days off this month (and once again, shoveling snow doesn’t seem to count) that I might not manage to complete my December challenge. 🤣

Earn this award with a total of 2,140 Exercise minutes this month. You've earned 1.623 minutes so far. Try to earn at least 258 Exercise minutes a day for the rest of the month.

  • Fascinated by AppleTV+ “Calls”, a Twilight Zone-ish radio play with visuals (CW: sometimes flashing) that I have heard nobody talk about. Not perfect, but comfortable in its skin rather than pandering. Ep 1 is disorienting, so don’t decide until after ep 2, but try it out.

  • Christmas gifts from Minnesotans. 🤣

  • If you’re a fan of Rat Pack-era(-ish) Christmas music but have grown tired of the four albums you own, I have discovered the excellent (only a few cringe-worthy tunes) 4-vol “Ultra-Lounge Christmas Cocktails” and concatenated them into a convenient Apple Music playlist. 🎄

  • 🎵 Tiger Moth Tales, “Story Tellers Part Two

Turns out clever prog tunes based on classic children’s stories and fairy tales has been exactly what I need lately. Amazed how rocking and fun a song about Toad of Toad Hall can be. (Watch the video at the link.)

  • 🎵 Galerie Stratique’s “Nothing Down-to-Earth” is “pay what you want” this month. I still listen to this fairly regularly 20 years after release, and strongly recommend you give it a shot. (Wouldn’t hurt to throw even a few $ at it, either.)

  • Medical waiting rooms: Not one of these people want to be here, many are dreading what the visit will bring. Yet there’s almost always one person whose anxiety makes them feel they’re the most important one there to the point of being an asshole. 😬

  • Once again, I wake up to a coding insight that had been eluding me and can start the day with a win. I have yet to regret my decision long ago to stop fighting through coding problems late into the night. 😴🛌

  • Bob Seger’s music is one of my happy places. Sometimes I need to be reminded of that.

  • Well, that explains why our sink stoppers have been troublesome. I had no idea lift rods could sharpen themselves into deadly weapons. So this weekend’s unexpected home repair (there’s always at least one) ends up being replacing three bathroom sink drains.

Old lift rod sharpened to a point, about one-third the length of the new stopper to the right of it.

  • I will (eventually) die having never tasted a McRib sandwich and I am so much more than fine with that.
